From family-friendly routes that wind through vineyards to off-piste ones that wiggle through the islands mountains, there is a lot to explore on Korčula by bike! The Kaštel also happens to be located directly on the A8 Split - Potomje cycling route, an alternative section of the Eurovelo 8 cycling path which runs straight through the village of Ċara! The routes shown above offer a snapshot of the numerous cycling opportunities the island of Korčula has to offer.
The Kaštel is located directly on the A8 Split-Potomje cycling route, an off-shoot of the Eurovelo 8 Mediterranean route running for 7350km from Spain to Greece. The A8 connects to a number of other cycling routes spanning Croatia and the rest of Europe
The “Pošip” route is the most accessible one from the Kaštel, offering scenic rides through the vineyards of the villages of Čara and Smokvica. There are also plenty of roads that can take you hidden coves located not far from the house!
If you are looking for an introductory, family-friendly cycling route on the island, the Korċula - Lumbarda route (also know as the “Grk wine route”) offers a scenic ride through vineyards and charming towns. There are plenty of day tours that run throughout the year in this area, offering cyclists a good workout along with delicious wine and stunning views
The western part of the island is more mountainous, making it a great option for those more confident on their bikes. The Blato - Vela Luka route passes through historic towns as well as landmarks such as the ancient Vela Spila cave, offering some beautiful views over the numerous hidden bays and coves. A great option for those looking for a route off the beaten tourist track!
